Winter Games 2026

During the weeks leading up to February 24, the Nancy Elementary Library explored the exciting world of the 2026 Winter Olympics. Students learned about the history and timeline of the Winter Games, how the events are organized, and the many sports that take place during the competition. They discovered that the Winter Olympics are held every four years and discussed the different locations that have hosted the Games around the world.
The librarian created a Winter Olympics virtual library to help students stay connected to the events and follow the latest highlights. Each day, students checked in on the medal standings—especially tracking how Team USA was performing. They learned about the significance of the gold, silver, and bronze medals and what each represents. Watching the standings change throughout the Games made the experience even more exciting and engaging.
Through news videos, stories, and interactive discussions, students gained a deeper understanding of the Winter Olympics and the dedication of the athletes who compete. They were fascinated by the events of the 2026 Winter Olympics and learned many new and interesting facts. The unit was such a success that students are already looking forward to learning about the Summer Games next!
