The 252nd Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party

Fifth grade students at Brodhead Elementary School in Rockcastle County celebrated the 252nd anniversary of the Boston Tea Party (December 16, 1773) by bringing history to life!
After studying the events that led to the American Revolution, students participated in a hands-on learning experience that connected classroom instruction to colonial life. Students made homemade butter, enjoyed biscuits with fresh butter, and sampled “British East India Fine Tea” while discussing the significance of tea and taxation in colonial protests.
This engaging activity helped students better understand how everyday items played an important role in shaping history. The excitement and meaningful conversations throughout the day highlighted the power of experiential learning in the classroom.

We are proud of the engaging and memorable learning experiences taking place in 5th grade at Brodhead Elementary!
