Our 8th graders are analyzing author’s craft like true literary detectives! In a recent reading lesson, students dove into their text to analyze the impact of specific word choice on meaning and tone. Using the 5-3-1 method, students collaborated to find the most powerful descriptive details of a scene. They started by identifying 5 examples, and then worked in small groups to narrow them down to 3, and finally, came together as teams to decide on the single most impactful one! Great critical thinking in action!
