Students at Central Elementary School recently had a special opportunity to learn from members of the Barbourville Fire Department, who shared important lessons about fire safety, including how to prevent fires, what to do in an emergency, and how families can create safety plans at home. Firefighters also shared information about their careers, giving students a glimpse into what it takes to serve as a firefighter and inspiring some to consider public service in the future.
The learning continued with a visit from the Knox County Sheriff, who spoke with students about internet safety and bullying, helping them understand how to stay safe online and treat others with respect.
These visits gave students a chance to see community leaders in action, demonstrating how members of the community work to protect, guide, and support others. It was a meaningful experience that highlighted both personal responsibility and civic engagement.
