BES Book Club

Our 5th grade students are diving into the past through Book Club, where reading and history come together in exciting ways! During Book Club, students are able to explore historical fiction and nonfiction texts that connect directly to what they are learning in social studies. These books help bring important events, people, and time periods to life beyond the textbook.

As students read, they discuss big ideas, ask thoughtful questions, and make connections between the past and the world today with their peers. Book Club encourages critical thinking, strengthens reading skills, and helps students see history through different perspectives—all while building a love for reading.

We are proud of our 5th graders for their curiosity, engagement, and meaningful conversations as they learn that history isn’t just something you study—it’s a story you can read, discuss, and understand together!
