Classroom Podcast

In my 6th grade computer science class, I use podcasts as an engaging way to introduce technology concepts, digital citizenship, and real-world applications of computing. Students listen to short, age-appropriate podcast segments that explain topics such as coding, cybersecurity, civics events, artificial intelligence, historical information, and how technology impacts everyday life. After listening, students participate in guided discussions, reflection questions, or quick activities that connect the content to what we are learning in class. Podcasts help reach auditory learners, build listening skills, and expose students to current technology trends in an accessible format. I also incorporate student-created mini-podcasts, allowing learners to research a topic, write scripts, and record their own episodes, which strengthens communication, creativity, and technical skills.
